When it comes to the best camera lenses, everyone knows the Nikon name. The same technology, highest-quality materials and years of proven optical design experience have also produced Nikon’s premium, high-performance eyeglass lenses. Nikon, whose name is synonymous with “the world’s finest lenses”, has been providing millions of people with a sharper point of view through the most trusted and sought-after optical products since 1917. While most people identify Nikon with superior camera lenses, many do not know that we began manufacturing quality eyeglass lenses in 1946, years before producing the first mass-market Nikon camera!
In 1983, we introduced the first anti-glare coating with true, built-in scratch resistance. This technology instantly became popular in Japan, where nearly 100% of lenses now feature this type of coating.
In 2000, we introduced the highest index material available, 1.74, making it a world-leader in delivering thinner, sharper lenses to the optical lens market. In that same year, we also introduced Nikon i, its high-quality progressive lenses that provide effortless adaptation with wide, far and near vision.
In 2004, we released its first double-sided progressive lens, Nikon W, signalling a major enhancement in progressive lens performance by incorporating an Aberration Filter™ surface to minimize distortion.
In 2006, we began introducing the Nikon SeeSeries, its most premium lens range which includes SeeMax single vision, SeeMax progressives, SeeCoat and SeeStyle. With SeeSeries, we continue revolutionizing optical technology.
From single vision to progressive lenses, we assure all wearers superior visual performance through proven optical design expertise and the finest materials and coatings in the world today.
